The Parlet family’s family and maternity session was one of those evenings. The kind where nothing is rushed, the light lingers longer than expected, and everything unfolds at exactly the pace it needs to. They are preparing to welcome their sweet baby girl, who will soon be joining big sister Collins, and this session felt […]

The Melzer-Roush family session was one of those from the very first message. Caleb reached out to book a family photo session as a birthday gift for his wife, Kate, and honestly, that alone set the tone. There is something incredibly touching about a partner taking the initiative to preserve this season of life. When dads are the ones who contact me, it always tells me how deeply invested they are, not just in the photos, but in the memories themselves.

Nestled among the sweeping mountain vistas of the Western Montana landscape, the day began with quiet anticipation and a whole lot of joy. At the idyllic Teller Wildlife Refuge near Corvallis, Ellie and Liam LeCoure celebrated their love surrounded by nature, laughter, and the support of their closest friends and family.

Picture this: the glow of a late-summer Missoula sunset, the shimmer of the Clark Fork River, and two people so in love that they didn’t hesitate when I suggested something a little outside the box. That’s when photography goes from posed to unforgettable, when a couple leans into the moment and lets love carry the story.

When I first connected with Kihla, I knew this session was going to be extra special. She told me that she and Jakob are in a long-distance relationship — between school in Washington and school in Missoula — and that the time they do get together in person is precious. That made their upcoming session feel like more than just photos: it was a moment of presence, a memory bank they’d turn to when the miles stretch between them again.

A few months ago, I met Emily and Michael for their maternity session in the wildflower fields of Missoula. It was one of those evenings that felt almost magical—soft light, genuine laughter, and two soon-to-be parents overflowing with anticipation for the babies they were about to meet. Getting to photograph them again for their newborn session in Alberton, Montana way an absolute joy.

Abby, Jack, and their six-month-old daughter Molly met me on a warm, green summer evening in Missoula, Montana for a family session that was every bit as joyful as it was meaningful. It was a little different from my typical sessions in that we worked thoughtfully around Jack’s wheelchair, but that difference only made the experience richer. The love this family shares is undeniable, and I feel so honored to have captured even a glimpse of it.

I’d photographed Stephanie and Jonathan earlier this spring for their maternity session in Alberton, Montana, and even then, their love for their baby boy was overflowing. That session was full of laughter, big skies, and the hope of what was to come. So getting to return, just a few weeks later, to document them holding Ryder in their arms—it was deeply moving. Quiet joy radiated through every room.

Out in their wide-open field and horse arena, surrounded by sunshine, dirt, horses, dogs, and a whole lot of heart, I had the joy of documenting this cowboy crew doing what they love most: being together, right at home. Corrie and Josh live in Hamilton, Montana, where they run a horse training business and raise […]
