If you have ever thought about booking family photos but felt a little unsure about what the experience would actually be like, you are not alone.
Most families come to me with some version of the same concern. Will my kids cooperate? Will it feel awkward? Do I need to know how to pose? What if someone has a meltdown? What if I have nothing to wear?

Choosing a family photographer in North Carolina can feel strangely heavy.
You are not just picking someone to take pictures. You are trusting someone with your people, your dynamics, your season of life. And when you are already juggling kids, schedules, and a million other decisions, it is easy to feel overwhelmed or unsure where to even start.
If you have ever wondered, How do I know if this photographer is actually the right fit for us? this post is for you.

The Parlet family’s family and maternity session was one of those evenings. The kind where nothing is rushed, the light lingers longer than expected, and everything unfolds at exactly the pace it needs to. They are preparing to welcome their sweet baby girl, who will soon be joining big sister Collins, and this session felt […]

Big news—I’m moving! After four and a half amazing years in Montana, where I grew as a photographer, met my husband, and fell in love with so many beautiful stories, we’re packing up and heading east. Winston-Salem, North Carolina, here we come! While Montana will always have a piece of my heart, we’re so excited to plant our own roots in North Carolina, near family, and start connecting with couples and families in this beautiful region.

The Melzer-Roush family session was one of those from the very first message. Caleb reached out to book a family photo session as a birthday gift for his wife, Kate, and honestly, that alone set the tone. There is something incredibly touching about a partner taking the initiative to preserve this season of life. When dads are the ones who contact me, it always tells me how deeply invested they are, not just in the photos, but in the memories themselves.

Abby, Jack, and their six-month-old daughter Molly met me on a warm, green summer evening in Missoula, Montana for a family session that was every bit as joyful as it was meaningful. It was a little different from my typical sessions in that we worked thoughtfully around Jack’s wheelchair, but that difference only made the experience richer. The love this family shares is undeniable, and I feel so honored to have captured even a glimpse of it.

Out in their wide-open field and horse arena, surrounded by sunshine, dirt, horses, dogs, and a whole lot of heart, I had the joy of documenting this cowboy crew doing what they love most: being together, right at home. Corrie and Josh live in Hamilton, Montana, where they run a horse training business and raise […]

The air smelled like spring as I stepped out of the car. I’d never met Emily and Michael before, but they felt familiar. Warm. Easy to be around. Maybe it was because I had photographed Emily’s sister just weeks earlier, or maybe it was the quiet magic of this particular evening, but I could feel right away that this session would be special.

There are some sessions that stay with you long after you pack up your camera—and this maternity session with Shannin and Luke in Missoula, Montana, is definitely one of them. I first met Shannin and Luke several years ago through church and when Shannin reached out to let me know they were expecting their first baby—a little girl—I was beyond excited.
